It all started back in middle school. My mom finally let me get my hair cut short and I was giddy with excitement. Who doesn’t love a good transformation?!

I was going for short and sassy. What I got was Amelia Bedilia.

Inspired by my own experience, I know what it feels like to get a haircut I didn’t like. What I didn’t plan on learning is that it feels the same for stylists, too.

Now in the moment of course I didn’t care about the stylist. How could I? I was waaay too hurt. Like, lock-yourself-in-your-room-and-refuse-to-go-to-school kind of hurt. I trusted her with my time, money, and middle school reputation. And for what? To look like a children’s book character?! “HOW COULD SHE DO THIS?!”

You know what I later learned? Stylists feel the same. They lock themselves in the bathroom to wipe away tears that don’t stop from falling out of their face. “How did that happen? She trusted me.”

Everything came full circle for me and I realized this is a recipe where no one feels beautiful, or taken care of, or part of a community. And because of these experiences happening everywhere, instead of working together, people are choosing to do it alone.

We do it a different way. We coach and mentor stylists and clients who are ready to unlock the door and work together to achieve results that win for both.

Imagine having a coach to help improve your skills, celebrate your successes, and work through the tough moments. And a supportive mentor to show you the way. Whether you’re in the chair as a client or behind the chair as a stylist, we’re ALL IN on guiding and supporting your goals and dreams. Because we see you for who you are, and who you can be.

So, my question for you is, are you ready to unlock the door?
